This is a blog project chronicling my episodes of voter's remorse. Despite being a generally libertarian-ish citizen, I decided to vote Barack Obama for the Presidency. I did this for a variety of reasons: a measure of pride in the notion of a serious Black candidate for President, the patriotic inspiration that Obama's speeches gave me, a sincere belief that he is a good, honest and competent man, as capable as any of building and managing an administration to govern our executive branch. Even at the moment of casting my ballot, though, I knew that I would probably grow to regret, if not my decision, then some of Barack's. I'm in favor of free trade; Obama built his populism around being against it. Education reform is amongst my top priorities, while the inertia-oriented teacher's unions have Obama's balls firmly in their grip. I believe that our pursuit of a more perfect union requires marriage equality. Barack Obama believes that his religious views should dictate the definition of marriage for all Americans.
This blog is to be about the issues over the course of the Obama-Biden administration that I find myself in conflict with. I expect to be writing the most about trade, healthcare, environmental issues, energy, education policy, and civil rights. I'll probably touch on other political/cultural items as I go along. Thanks for reading.
